Kansas City Kansas Community College is one of the premier academic institutions in the State of Kansas and beyond. The KCKCC Board of Trustees remains committed to maintaining a positive and supportive educational environment for its students, faculty and community. Information was brought to the attention of the Board that merited review by an external party. The Board, in accordance with its fiduciary obligations to the College, placed Dr. Doris Givens on administrative leave with pay pending completion of this review. The Board has appointed Dr. Jacqueline Vietti as the Acting President of the College effective immediately. Dr. Vietti’s appointment has the unanimous support of all Board members. She was selected for her extensive experience, having previously served as President of Butler Community College for 17 years and as interim President of Emporia State University for a six-month period.
Dr. Edward Kremer remains as the Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Board appreciates the community’s understanding and support for the College, which remains the most progressive, forward-looking, forward thinking, forward moving, entrepreneurial and diverse community college in the entire state of Kansas and beyond.
Dr. Jacqueline Vietti is a life-long Kansas resident, born and raised in Eureka Kan. She graduated cum laude from Kansas State University with a bachelor of science in biological sciences in 1971. She later graduated with honors from Pittsburg State University with a master of science in Community College Teaching and received her doctorate in Adult and Occupational Education from Kansas State. She also participated in the National Institute for Leadership Development with the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges.
Vietti served as President of Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan. for 17 years before retiring in 2012. She then served as Interim President of Emporia State University for six months in 2015. Currently, she is a consultant and facilitator for the Kansas Community College Leadership Institute. Past positions include Coordinator of Instructional Projects, Associate Dean, Dean of Instruction and Interim President at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan. and Dean of Arts and Science/Instruction at Crowder College in Neosho, Mo.
Vietti received the Wichita Business Journal Newsmaker Award, the Phi Theta Kappa Lifetime Distinguished Service Award, the Pittsburg State University Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Phi Theta Kappa Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction and the Wichita Business Journal Women in Business Award, among many other honors. She was also named the Association of Community College Trustees Western Region Chief Executive Officer of the Year.
Currently, Vietti is on the Board of Trustees for Newman University, Board of Directors for BG Products Inc. and is a guest lecturer for the Iowa State University Higher Education Leadership Program.
